Tell it your beds, guests, bathrooms and how fast your laundry comes back. It works out a par level, then shows how many sheet sets, duvet covers, pillowcases, towels and bath mats to own, sorted by bed size, plus the toiletry kits you will use each month and a shopping list you can copy.

## How it works

Par is how many complete sets you own for each bed or bathroom. Three is the usual starting point: one on the bed, one in the wash and one clean on the shelf. Each turnover uses one sheet set and one duvet cover per bed, one pillowcase per pillow, one bath towel per guest, and one hand towel and one bath mat per bathroom.

Slow laundry raises the par. The calculator counts how many sets are away at the same time: days at the laundry times turnovers per day, rounded up. Same-day and next-day laundry keep one set away. A 2-day laundry, or a laundry service (counted as 3 days), can keep two or three away when guests change often, and each extra set away adds one to the par.

A spare of 10% is added to every line and rounded up, for stains, tears and towels that leave in a guest's suitcase. Toiletry kits are used up rather than washed, so they are counted per month, with two weeks' worth to keep on the shelf.

- `sheet sets, per bed size = beds of that size × par × (1 + spare), rounded up`
- `duvet covers, per bed size = beds of that size × par × (1 + spare), rounded up`
- `pillowcases = pillows on all beds × par × (1 + spare), rounded up`
- `bath towels = guests × par × (1 + spare), rounded up`
- `hand towels = bathrooms × par × (1 + spare), rounded up`
- `bath mats = bathrooms × par × (1 + spare), rounded up`
- `toiletry kits a month = turnovers per week × 52 ÷ 12 × kits per stay, rounded up`

## Questions hosts ask

### How many sets of sheets do I need per bed?

Three is the common answer: one on the bed, one in the wash and one ready on the shelf. If your laundry takes two days or more, or a laundry service collects it, and you have several turnovers a week, plan on four or five.

### Why not just two sets?

With two, one late laundry delivery or one stained sheet leaves a bed you cannot make before check-in. The third set is what lets a cleaner finish a same-day turnover without waiting for the wash.

### Should I buy white or coloured towels?

Many hosts choose white because it can be bleached, mixed between rooms and reads as clean to guests. Darker towels hide make-up stains better. Whichever you choose, buy one colour and one size so every set can replace any other.

### Is my data saved?

No. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us. We only receive an email address if you choose to download the PDF shopping list.
